I must admit - I get a natural high from saving money.
I had an advantage growing up. My mom never left home without a grocery coupon. Heck ,she even had this ugly travel case full of coupons. She bought all our clothes from thrift stores ,only washed jean if you wore them 3 times first. It was embarassing as a child ,and I swore I would never do that to my children. I also swore I would be nothing like my mother if I became a mother.
Well , 5 children later , I hate to admit --I'm just like her!!...UGH!!!.
Ok , so its not a bad thing afterall ( at least the thrifty part). I do thrift different than she did -- I taught myself to do it with style and pride ( and never drag around the travel case of coupons when my children go food shopping with me ).
On my limited income - I live in a huge 5 bedroom house. Its located in a quiet safe neighborhood. My children attend the best schools in the area. They are all in involved in every school and after school programs like soccer, karate ,etc that is available to them. If you saw my children ,you would never ever know we are lower middle class challenged.
I have learned to provide my family with all we need ( and more). I do this by learning and where to save money in big ways - Not on big stuff, but on everyday items we need. I will try to amuse you with personal stories of thrift , provide community resources , hook readers up with some ways to make extra income and much more.
Bonus , since it's all FREE information - you already on Step 1 of this sometimes crazy ,never boring thrifty lifestyle.
I will assume my readers have money and want to learn how to make that money last longer ,make it grow.
If you do not have any money , food , or safe shelter and are truly struggling to make it one more day , I will be including a Community Resources section - where you may be able to get emotional and/or assistance obtaining money, food and shelter.
Join me in a Journey into the Thrifty Lifestyle. Some people are thrifty by choice .
